The Nook Cottage was originally the home of an Aberdovey ship building family. Boats were built along the foreshore and in the small bay by the “Penhelig Arms”.  The local fish merchant and the local Aberdyfi Lifeboat was located along the terrace.  The Lifeboat was launched from a small building, down a wooden ramp into the Dyfi Estuary which can still be seen from The Nook. Built somewhere around 1850 on the bank of the Dovey Estuary the cottage enjoys stunning views, both out to sea and across the estuary to Ynyslas, Borth and the Cambrian Range beyond.

Today, The Nook Cottage has been restored by the current owner and still retains many of it’s original character, the property still enjoys one of the most beautiful views to be found in the area. Within 200 yards of the cottage is the Cambrian Coast railway halt and the welcoming “Penhelig Arms” a pub with an excellent selection of beers & wines, and outstanding restaurant.

The cottage is also near the Memorial Garden where the Heroes of WW2 are commemorated. This is an excellent place to start a walk, along the historic Roman Road towards Picnic Island, or along the road and foreshore (at low tide) to the village centre less than half a mile away. Walking, fishing, sailing, wind surfing, eating and drinking are all pursuits to be enjoyed locally. Alternatively, just sit and enjoy the view.  It’s your holiday after all.
